Research Summary

This visionary project comprises 35 meticulously designed apartment units, driven by the core principles of "program flexibility" and a dedicated commitment to reducing the carbon footprint. Through the innovative substitution of traditional walls with cutting-edge Cross-Laminated Timber (CLT) panels, this development redefines spatial functionality, enabling fluid adjustments to accommodate the unique desires and requirements of its residents. Each of the 35 units features a dynamic layout of six rooms that can be artfully reconfigured using adaptable sliding panels, whether joined together to create open, collaborative spaces or separated to provide privacy and versatility – ensuring a truly customizable living experience.

Material Study

CLT is also known for cross laminated timber, it is an enjineered wood that consists of multiple layers glued together at right angles. Therefore the resulting product have an excellent structual rigidity in both directions. CLT can be used to replace concrete to form walls, floors and ceilings as it has a great weight to strength ratio.
